Widest point across
Length runs along the longest side. Width crosses the widest part. An irregular shoreline will give an approximate result.
Single or double bellow?
A single bellow windmill is generally recommended for ponds up to 2 acres. You can also choose a double bellow for a smaller pond: with the inline air release valve and a properly planned diffuser setup, the added output can circulate the water faster and may deliver results sooner without over-aerating the pond. For ponds above 2 acres and up to 4 acres, we generally recommend a double bellow.
Wind exposure, pond depth, and layout can affect the best setup. For ponds over 4 acres, ask us about a tailored arrangement.
Where should diffusers go?
Adding diffusers divides the windmill’s air output; it does not increase it.
For the existing two diffuser setup, follow the product’s depth guidance: each diffuser should be no deeper than 8 feet. Contact Joe Mescan Windmill LLC if you need help planning placement.
